IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EQUATOR PRINCIPLES

De Volksbank has four brands (ASN Bank, BLG Wonen, SNS and RegioBank). ASN Bank is the only brand which finances projects. An important distinction must be made between ASN Bank and ASN Investment Funds (ASN Beleggingsfondsen N.V.). Both are part of de Volksbank but ASN Bank operates under the banking license of de Volksbank. The ASN Investment Funds operate under their own license. Below we will make a distincion between ASN Bank and ASN Investement Funds.

ASN Bank:
In 2019, we did not provide any loans subject to the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles describe three risk categories, ranging from potential significant adverse social or environmental impacts (category A) to minimal or no social or environmental impacts (C). ASN Bank endorses the Equator Principles. In addition to our own sustainability criteria, we apply the Equator Principles to all project finance in excess of USD 10 million (i.e. € 8 million).

ASN Investment Funds:
In 2019, we did not provide any loans subject to the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles describe thee risk categrories, raning from potential significant adverse social or environmental impacts (category A) to minimal or no social or environmental impacts (C). In addition to our own sustainability criteria, we apply the Equator Principles to all project finance in exccess of USD 10 million (i.e. € 8 million). The projects outside Europe are researsched by FMO and they conduct a very extensive due dilligence including the IFC performance standards.
