Implementation of the Equator Principles
Standard Bank Group, as an Equator Principles Financial Institution, integrates the Equator Principles into its Environmental and Social Risk Management Framework, credit policies, and transaction approval processes.
Environmental and Social (E&S) risk assessments are conducted for applicable project-related transactions, aligned to the IFC Performance Standards and World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
The governance framework includes defined roles across ESG Risk, business units, and senior management to ensure appropriate screening, categorisation, and monitoring of transactions.
For Category A and relevant Category B transactions, independent environmental and social due diligence and monitoring are undertaken. Climate and human rights risks are also considered as part of the review process.
