Implementation of the Equator Principles
De Volksbank has four brands (ASN Bank, BLG Wonen, RegioBank and SNS). ASN Bank is the only brand which finances projects. An important distinction must be made between ASN Bank and ASN Impact Investors (previously ASN Beleggingsfondsen N.V., the name has changed in May 2021). Both are part of de Volksbank but ASN Bank operates under the banking license of de Volksbank. ASN Impact Investors operate under their own license. Below we will make a distinction between ASN Bank and ASN Impact Investors.
ASN Bank:
In 2020, we did not provide any loans subject to the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles describe three risk categories, ranging from potential significant adverse social or environmental impacts (category A) to minimal or no social or environmental impacts (C). ASN Bank endorses the Equator Principles. In addition to our own sustainability criteria, we apply the Equator Principles to all project finance in excess of USD 10 million (i.e. € 8 million).
ASN Impact Investors:
In 2020, we did not provide any loans subject to the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles describe thee risk categories, ranging from potential significant adverse social or environmental impacts (category A) to minimal or no social or environmental impacts (C). In addition to our own sustainability criteria, we apply the Equator Principles to all project finance in excess of USD 10 million (i.e. € 8 million). The projects outside Europe are researched by FMO and they conduct a very extensive due diligence including the IFC performance standards.
