Implementation of the Equator Principles

Since our adherence to the Equator Principles in 2012, we have developed procedures for the identification, evaluation and monitoring of social and environmental risks arising from our activity with customers, to monitor and control them according to their level or category
of impact.

With the entry into force of version IV of the Equator Principles in 2021 and the alignment of the Principles to the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) on climate change, its management and reporting, we decided to integrate climate change-related risks into the social and environmental risk management processes, which led us to define physical risks and transition risks.

The former arise because of climatic and geological events and changes in the balance of ecosystems and may be gradual or abrupt. They may involve physical damage to assets (infrastructure, real estate), disruptions in production or supply chains and/or changes in the productivity of economic activities (agriculture, energy production).

On the other hand, transition risks are related to the fight against climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy. They include factors such as changes in regulations and standards, the development of alternative energy-efficient technologies, changes in
market preferences or reputational factors associated with activities with a greater impact.

In 2023, based on the Equator Principles governance update and the partnership we have established with DEG, we agreed to update and strengthen our Social and Environmental Risk Management System, expanding its scope beyond the USD $10 million threshold, starting in 2024, with the support of external consultants.
