Equator Principles Publishes New Guidance for Data Centre Projects
15 June, 2026 EP News
The Equator Principles has published new sector-specific guidance to support the application of the Equator Principles to data centre Projects. Developed in collaboration with Arup, the guidance provides practical support for financial institutions, project sponsors, consultants, and independent experts addressing the environmental and social considerations associated with this fast-growing sector.
The new resource outlines the technical context of data centre development, highlights key environmental and social risks, and offers practical guidance on applying the Equator Principles throughout the project lifecycle.
Since its release in May 2026, the guidance has received strong positive feedback, reflecting growing interest in clear, consistent approaches to risk management in this expanding area of infrastructure.
The guidance has been made publicly available to support consultants, technical advisers, and other relevant stakeholders involved in the development and assessment of data centre Projects. In addition, EPFIs have access to supplementary technical information and were recently invited to a webinar led by Arup, providing an opportunity to engage directly with the experts involved in developing the guidance.
